College Kickstart August 20, 2009 10:00 AM
Seniors will get a head start on their applications for admission and will begin the Common Application, re-visit their college planning calendar, prepare requests for teacher Letters of recommendation, refine high school activities lists/student résumés, and review general procedures and timelines for the fall and spring.
Game Plan night for Seniors TBA
All Seniors and their parents should attend as we review the logistics and procedures for submitting and completing college applications.
College Admissions Q & A TBA
Admission representatives from the University of Nevada, Reno and a private university will provide an overview of the college application process and offer their suggestions for a stress-free college application season. Come prepared with your questions.
PSAT Testing TBA
PSAT Testing for all Sophomores and Juniors takes place in the Great Space.
Western Regional College Fair TBA
Sponsored by the Western Association for College Admission Counseling, this free college fair showcases nearly 100 colleges and universities. All students and their parents are encouraged to attend the fair, gather information, and introduce themselves to representatives of colleges they would like to learn more about. This college fair takes place at UNR in the Joe Crowley Student Union.
EXPLORE & PLAN Testing TBA
EXPLORE Testing (Freshmen) and PLAN Testing (Sophomores) will take place in the Webster Building Great Space.
Financial Aid Night TBA
A college Financial Aid Officer will offer insight on general financial aid processes and practices with specific attention paid to the different types of financial aid, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS Profile. Students and parents are encouraged to come ready to ask questions.
FAFSA Night TBA
A college Financial Aid Officer will walk you through completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), a document required by many colleges and universities of families desiring financial aid of any type for their student.
